Due by 9 a.m. Tuesday will be a practice story, slugged RESCUE. For this story, use the fire department report found in Ch. 18, Ex. 5, p. 396) of RFTM, 11th Edition. Please send your assignment to omars@msu.edu.
For this exercise, the city and fire department in question are those of East Lansing. Also, military time is used in this report, which you'll have to translate into regular time. A primer on military time can be found here.
Also, don't forget your second story pitch is also due Tuesday.
Also, if you haven't already you should be receiving your graded first out-of-class story shortly; no later than 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, for sure. The rewrite of your first out-of-class story will be due no later than 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 by email to omars@msu.edu.
For the rewrite, do whatever suggestions I have noted, whether that involves additional reporting, AP Style fixes, rearranging story structure, whatever. You do not have to do a rewrite, but I strongly encourage you to do so.
