Out-Of-Class #2: Neutral Experts

Sometimes, you don't have to find neutral experts; they find you.

I'm on a number of journalism email list servs, and recently I received this email:

Hello,
I hope you're doing well today. I wanted to introduce you to ProfNet, a service that has been helping journalists connect with experts for over 20 years.
If you are in need of a subject-matter expert, here are a few reasons why you should give ProfNet a try:
·         Submitting a query is easy and FREE. Just sign up as a journalist at http://www.profnet.com and tell us the kind of expertise you need. We’ll distribute it to the appropriate experts in our network. You can also use our quick query form, which does not require you to log in.
·         You can filter your request by institution type and geographic location. So, if you are only looking for experts from colleges in the Northeast, you can do just that.
·         We distribute queries every hour during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT), so your query will be sent out quickly -- meaning you don’t have to wait days to find the experts you need.
·         If you are in a real hurry to find experts, you can also request to have your query posted immediately on ProfNet's Twitter stream (@profnet), which has more than 20,000 followers. We only post same-day deadline queries and only with your approval. To request a tweet of your query, just choose that option on the query form when submitting your query.
·         You can also sign up to receive our Expert Alerts tip sheet with leads to experts who are available to talk about timely topics in your coverage area. Expert Alerts are available in three editions: Business, Finance & Technology (Mondays); Government, Law, Education & Science (Wednesdays); Health, Living & Entertainment (Fridays). To receive these updates by email, send a note to profnet@profnet.com with the industries you cover, and we'll add you to the appropriate edition.
Ready to give it a try? Go to ProfNet.com to get started, and see how ProfNet can help you find the sources you need.
If you need any further assistance, please reply to this message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time.
