AP Quiz: A Review

Honestly, as a class we did not do well on this one. And that's really inexcusable, for two reasons.

First, this was open-book. If we had looked up things thoroughly, we should have found all the right answers.

Second, and actually more troubling to me, almost every AP style point that was a part of this quiz was something we have covered at least once -- and often, many times more -- in the AP style blog posts throughout the semester!

AP style is something you are expected to know throughout your journalism career. That doesn't mean just on one assignment or just in 200 or just at MSU. When you get out in the real world, you are supposed to have this stuff down cold.

But that starts here. And that's true of everything we've done in this class: you are expected to now know AP style and journalistic structure and reporting, and use that in every class, internship and job you have from now until you retire from the workforce.

If you don't take this knowledge with you, you will struggle going forward. Don't forget these lessons. I've taught JRN 300 and 400 and worked in the professional world, and I promise you, letting these lessons slip can be fatal to your aspirations.
