Please encourage your students
to apply for Journalism scholarships. Even if they don't get them this
year, they will have more classes and experience (internships, projects,
etc.) to perhaps win them next year. Requirements vary with
scholarships (broadcast, writing, international, sports, environmental,
etc.), so many of them are not based on a 4.0 gpa. These are for both
undergraduate and graduate students.
The list of scholarships is online at: http://cas.msu.edu/places/departments/school-of-journalism/students/scholarships/
Scholarships
range from $500 to several thousand dollars to a full-year of tuition.
Scholarships are awarded for summer 2014 and the next academic year (not
for this semester). The deadline is Wednesday, January 22. The Howell
Scholarship flyer for an essay on propaganda ($4,000 total) and the Mary
Gardner Scholarship (partial to full year of tuition) will be announced
a little later.
Students were sent globals, but please continue to encourage them every year to apply.
Thank you,
Lucinda
